Gonjasufi - Live in MaZ, Bruges

A couple of days ago I went to see my long time hero Gonjasufi. He played in the Magdalena-zaal (MaZ) in Bruges last Sunday and although I live on the other side of Belgium (okay, not THAT impressively far but still) I just had to go. I read on some sites that his shows are either bad or really good but he played a great set, personally I would dare to put it in my top 2 list of greatest shows I've seen so far. He played a lot of his hits - as far as he's known widely- but then again in my opinion every of his songs is fucking great.

What amazed me just as much however was the extreeeeeeeeeeeemely (I have no vocabulary in any language that could've prevented that much e's) awesome music the DJ's played during the show, when Gonjasufi, real name Sumach Ecks, disappeared into the dark/smoke. In combination with a fair amount of Polish wodka and Dutch smoke for the occasion the music nearly got me in a trance I have rarely had before.
It was kind of uncomfortable when he made a comment on how few people were at the venue, saying he came all the way from the Desert (okay, awesome) and that we would all come just from across the street, and the fact that the crowd, including me, didn't get all of the references to his own underground music scene kind of put a distance between him and the audio. I didn't expect that since he always seemed like a very inspiring and wise person in interviews I read of him.
I fixed the short uncomfortable feeling it brought by dancing harder and telling myself I was one of the cool guys.
It worked. I danced my ass off. All this made me collect all my courage together so I approached the sound engineer and asked him for a job (not just randomly anything, I'm not unqualified). Too bad I didn't get the job but I did go home having had a bro-fist (FUCKING AWESOME), a beer and a smoke with Gonjasufi. The fact that he knew my name (or okay, part of it) made my head spin even more. I do know that artists are just artists and that getting backstage and approaching them is kind of lame but I couldn't help it. Gonjasufi, you're a huge influence and inspiration and I can't wait to see you again. That show was amazing.

P.S.: I will keep asking you until I will tour with your crew. I promise.

This song! So endlessly beautiful!

Calling All The Crows

I did not know that the free songs on Tap Tap could have something good to offer. Yes, I realize it looks as if I don't have a life but I'm sure it is somewhere between the addiction to Tetris and this newly discovered game... Anyhow, take a listen and you might like it. I don't really know what is it about the song but the first thought that comes to my mind is some sort of a rhythm in it that makes me feel like I have an association with it... I just have no idea what's the association. Night-blabbering taking over...
Also, I was going to post the original music video but there was something about it that made me not become too enthusiastic about it, thus I'm posting this live performance. I realize the singer looks scary... Heh.

Corinne Bailey Rae is gorgeous and so is my lover.

She is absolutely fabulous, capturing, fascinating and so gorgeous. Her beautiful voice singing those lyrics makes me smile like a fool. I don't think much needs to be said here because her performance speaks for itself.

I will leave you to enjoy this beauty and continue sinking deeper into this developing, beautiful, mellow feeling he gives me.

YOU ARE THE BEAUTIFUL ONE.

I know I'm the one who listens to extremely cliché, mainstream music BUT I cannot help that I happen to enjoy Beyoncé.
So, here is her performing The Beautiful Ones and Sex On Fire at this year's (2011) Glastonbury. I love those songs in their original form but I also love what she did to them. I know some people think she is a bit over-the-top and too much but I love the energy and strength she puts into her performance... So you will simply have to bare through this with me. Enjoy.

FREE COLDPLAY CONCERT is MUCH.

Ah, this is a bit old yet totally worth mentioning. Couple of weeks back there was a free Coldplay concert on Queen's Street. I'm sure going to love this city!

They performed 'Viva La Vida' and 'Charlie Brown' at MuchMusic's "Live In The Lot".
I also must say I'm proud of my phone, although the quality isn't the best it's pretty good for a phone. HA. Enjoy.
